What is telehealth and is it safe?

Due to the pandemic, many health providers are seeing patients online, for your health and safety and theirs. With today’s technology, it’s very safe and secure.  Your sessions are private, just like you were meeting with a physician in their office.  Don’t worry if you are not a technology expert, most of our clients aren’t!!  We work with a variety of platforms and your clinician will choose one that’s easy for you.

What ages do you work with?

WellQor specializes in the issues that older adults face. Some of our clients are approaching retirement age, while others are well into their golden years.

Who is a good candidate for WellQor Services?

Let’s talk about it, schedule a consultation here.

Early identification and intervention is the key to heading off potential problems! Please review our list of warning signs to determine if someone is struggling and in need of support.

Can you work with someone living in a senior community, rehab or other facility?

Absolutely.  By providing services through telehealth, we can conduct sessions with anyone anywhere, provided that they have a good internet connection.

I have concerns about a loved one, but I’m not sure if they need therapy. Can you help me figure out if they do?

Of course we can!  Our “Peace of Mind” program was designed to allow our team to conduct periodic screenings of and report on a client’s emotional and cognitive health. This allows us to be extremely proactive and catch issues early enough to be of real help.  To learn more about this program click here.

Alternatively, schedule a consultation with our team and explain your situation. We’re here to help!

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

No. WellQor clinicians are medical professionals who are licensed to evaluate, diagnose and treat emotional health issues without requiring a referral from a medical doctor.

What qualifications do your therapists have?

The WellQor provider network consists of over 80 Licensed Clinical Social Workers,  PhD / PsyD Psychologists and Neuropsychologists each with specialized training and experience with the issues seniors and their families face.

Some of our providers have additional training and certifications including trauma, bereavement, substance abuse, oncology, end of life emotional support, and PTSD.  If you have a special situation, please let us know.

I’d prefer a provider who has certain traits. Will you take that into consideration in selecting a clinician for me?

Yes! We always do our best to align you with a provider you will be comfortable with.  We have a diverse group of clinicians on our team, we will find the right fit for you!

Does WellQor prescribe medications?

No. For medication management, you would need to consult with your primary care physician, and they would know best how to advise you.  However, we do collaborate with primary care physicians and psychiatrists to better support our clients. Let us know if you would like to talk about this as part of your treatment plan.

Can my family members participate?

Absolutely! We believe that incorporating loved ones into the process can be productive for everyone.  Our telehealth platform allows for group meetings so others can join in when appropriate.

How long will it take to have my first appointment?

It typically takes 1-2 business days to confirm your insurance coverage, sign consent forms and schedule your first appointment with your clinician.  So if you initiate the process today, we can have you scheduled with your clinician within 2 to 3 days.  Our clients are generally thrilled with how efficient and easy the process is with WellQor!

What will I work on with my clinician?

It depends on your individual situation and needs.  As part of the intake process, your Psychologist or Clinical Social Worker will learn about your background and goals, explore the issues you’re facing, and create a treatment plan designed to help you progress.

How long and how often will I meet with my therapist? Is there a recommended timeframe?

Treatment plans are developed based on the unique needs and goals of each client.  Some of our patients meet with their clinician several times a week, others only once per month. Session times can range from 30 minutes to one hour. After approximately 3 months, your clinician will assess your progress, and together, you will decide to continue your current plan or modify it.

Mom/Dad needs support, but they are not listening to me or other family members. Can you call them to convince them to enroll in services?

No, unfortunately not.  Without conducting an evaluation first, we are not in a position to recommend therapy or provide feedback to the family. But, if they would like to set up a call to learn more about WellQor, we would love to talk to them! In some cases, this helps them feel more comfortable and they are open to the idea of meeting with a clinician. Other times, it is the family members and friends who have an intimate understanding of the situation that is in the best possible position to encourage someone to get help. Here is a link to a video we created that provides helpful suggestions on how to approach the conversation.
