No. Our services are performed using a telehealth platform using smartphones, tablets or desktop computers.  This allows our clients to meet with their clinician from the safety and comfort of their own home.

What is telehealth and is it safe?

Due to the pandemic, many mental health providers are seeing patients online, for your health and safety and theirs. With today’s technology, it’s very safe and secure.  Your sessions are private, just like you were meeting with a physician in their office.  Don’t worry if you are not a technology expert, most of our clients aren’t!!  We work with a variety of platforms and your counselor will choose the one that’s easiest for you.

What ages do you work with?

WellQor specializes in the issues that older adults face. Some of our clients are approaching retirement age, while others are well into their golden years.

Can I pick my counselor?

We always do our best to align you with a counselor you will be comfortable with.  We have a diverse group of providers on our team, we will find the right fit for you! During the intake process, we welcome your input on the traits you look for in a counselor, and if at any time you need to switch to someone else, you can!

Does WellQor prescribe medications?

No. For medication management, you would need to consult with your primary care physician, and they would know best how to advise you.  However, we do collaborate with primary care physicians and psychiatrists to better support our clients. Let us know if you would like to talk about this as part of your treatment plan.

Can my family members participate?

Absolutely! We believe that incorporating loved ones into the process can be productive for everyone.  Our telehealth platform allows for group meetings so others can join in when appropriate.

How long will it take to have my first appointment?

It typically takes 1-2 business days to confirm your insurance coverage, sign consent forms and schedule your first appointment with your clinician.  So if you initiate the process today, we can have you scheduled with your clinician within 2 to 3 days.  Our clients are generally thrilled with how efficient and easy the process is with WellQor!

What will I work on with my clinician?

It depends on your individual situation and needs.  As part of the intake process, your Psychologist or Clinical Social Worker will learn about your background and goals, explore the issues you’re facing, and create a treatment plan designed to help you progress.

How long and how often will I meet with my therapist? Is there a recommended timeframe?

Some of our patients meet with their clinician several times a week, others only once per month. Session times can range from 30 minutes to one hour. Most importantly, you and your counselor will work TOGETHER to create a treatment plan that works for you.

Mom/Dad needs support, but they are not listening to me or other family members. Can you call them to convince them to enroll in services?

No, unfortunately not.  Without conducting an evaluation first, we are not in a position to recommend therapy or provide feedback to the family. But, if they would like to set up a call to learn more about WellQor, we would love to talk to them! In some cases, this helps them feel more comfortable and they are open to the idea of meeting with a clinician. Other times, it is the family members and friends who have an intimate understanding of the situation that is in the best possible position to encourage someone to get help. Here is a link to a video we created that provides helpful suggestions on how to approach the conversation.
