Professional Bio
Hi there, I’m Alexandra Sumpter! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan with experience in working with clients of all ages, genders, sexualities, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I’ve had the honor of walking alongside clients through some of the most challenging and transformative chapters of their lives. Whether someone is navigating depression, anxiety, life transitions, addiction, relationship difficulties, academic and career stress, or emotional regulation struggles, I approach each individual with openness and deep respect for their unique story. My therapeutic approach always remains flexible and inclusive, always evolving and ready to meet patients where they are.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a caregiver for the elderly and homebound. It was there I discovered the power of empathy, attentive care, and being truly present with others. My clients trusted me to create care plans that others would follow, and from that experience, I knew I wanted to bring that same level of care, understanding, and advocacy into the world of therapy. Since becoming a licensed therapist in 2022, I’ve never once questioned that this is exactly where I’m meant to be.
Therapy has taught me that we all have good intentions, but that sometimes what starts off as a good intention can go terribly wrong. I believe we are all innate survivors and though we can stumble we can never be in an unfixable state of brokenness. My favorite part of being a therapist is watching as my client can evolve from heartache to celebration. I love being able to experience feelings with my clients from the darkest part of the emotional spectrum to the brightest.
As your therapist, I promise to accept you unconditionally, be authentic in our work together, and always strive to understand what life feels like through your eyes. Together, we’ll create a space where your experiences are seen, your struggles are honored, and your growth is supported every step of the way.
