Professional Bio
Hi, I’m Brianna, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona! My niche is childhood trauma, and I’ve spent my career building depth in trauma, attachment trauma, and dissociation. I’ve trained in several trauma-informed approaches over the years, which means I can meet you where you actually are rather than fitting you into one method.
A lot of what we do together involves understanding how your brain and nervous system work. People often come in thinking something is wrong with them. They shut down in the middle of an argument, or go numb when things get hard, or stay on high alert even when nothing is wrong, and they assume it means they’re broken. What’s usually happening is that their body learned to protect them at a time when it needed to, and it never got the message that the danger has passed. Those responses made sense once, but they just don’t fit your life anymore. When I walk someone through that, and they realize they aren’t broken or dramatic, I can usually see them relax right in front of me. Watching someone go from being hard on themselves to being kind to themselves never gets old.
I decided I wanted to be a therapist as a teenager, after my own first experience in therapy. I had always been curious about people and why we do what we do, and I wanted my work to mean something. The relationship between a therapist and a client is unlike any other relationship you’ll have, and it’s still the part of this job I value most. I spend my days hearing about the worst things people do to each other, and it hasn’t changed my belief that most people are good.
Therapy is one of the hardest and most rewarding things you’ll ever thank yourself for committing to. My promise to you is that I will protect your care, safety, and wellbeing, even when it isn’t to my own benefit. When I’m not with clients, you’ll find me traveling, cooking and baking, spending time with my family and pets, taking spin classes, doing nail art, or reading.
I look forward to meeting you!
