Professional Bio
I obtained my MSW from Columbia University and I’ve been a practicing LCSW for over 20 years. I’ve spent time working with individual clients, supervising staff, training other mental health professionals, and working with hospital multidisciplinary teams to provide therapy to people waiting for organ transplants. I’ve even done emergency therapy for the survivors and families of September 11th.
I became a therapist because I wanted to see my work have a direct impact on the lives of others. I love problem solving, and it’s so satisfying and rewarding to work with others and make real differences in their lives. Knowing you’ve been able to help someone realize success is the most amazing feeling.
I particularly enjoy helping others work through psychological pain like anxiety and depression. In addition to psychological issues, I enjoy helping others combat physical pain, process and combat medical issues, and reevaluate priorities. Our minds have an amazing way of helping us reframe negatives into positives. We just need a little bit of help to get there.
If there’s one thing therapy has taught me, it’s that nobody wants to fail. Everyone wants to be successful but doesn’t necessarily know how to do it. I’m happy to be that outside, professional perspective that you can trust and rely on. We all need to process things and we all need help during various times in our life. I love helping clients create a toolbox to live successfully and, I believe that everyone deserves to live their best life and feel good about it.
No day is all good or all bad, but our perspective significantly impacts our quality of life.
I always tell myself and my clients:
Live each day as if it were your last.
Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.
We may encounter defeats but we must not be defeated (Maya Angelou).
When I’m not conducting therapy sessions, I love to travel and explore new places. Whenever I explore, I always incorporate photography and scrapbooking to capture memories as a way of preserving them for the future. I also like to go boating and fishing with my family.
To my clients, I promise to always tell you the truth, be your advocate, and work to understand the underlying cause of every issue so we can eradicate it for good. Let’s work as a team!
