Professional Bio
I’m a licensed clinical psychologist with a Masters degree in Applied Clinical Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I started my career at a community clinic in North Hollywood, CA, where I was trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. I spent the next 25 years working in a number of different settings, including a ten year term working with inmates in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Today, I am the Clinical Director for WellQor Psychological Services of California, where I treat clients and manage a large team of clinical mental health professionals.
I am a therapist because being of service to others gives my life meaning. Therapy is a place where any and every person can learn to thrive, elevate their lives, awaken their potential, reconnect with hope, and discover and create what’s possible for them. Therapy is an activity that helps people make sense of their world and the world at large in ways that makes everything more tolerable and fosters hope and possibility.
Over the course of my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with patients of diverse backgrounds. I have developed a respectful and effective approach to working with individuals who have a range of cultural experiences other than my own. I seek to explore, understand, support, integrate, and utilize the role that an individual’s culture may play in their life and their struggles, as well as their personal power and strength.
We connect through our shared pain, struggles, and obstacles. We can rarely change our situation or circumstances, but when we change our thinking, how we see things, then everything changes. I want to help people see the possibilities in life beyond the obstacles.
As your therapist I promise to listen and think with you, to try to understand you deeply and work towards greater possibilities.
