Professional Bio

Hello, my name is Dr. Hector Soto. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience working across social services, schools, hospitals, and outpatient settings. My path into this field began with a desire to help others, originally leading me toward pre-med and pediatrics. That direction shifted after taking a course in abnormal child psychology, where I discovered a deeper calling in understanding the human mind and supporting people through emotional and psychological challenges. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the strength and resilience people carry, even in the face of trauma, loss, and adversity, and that continues to shape the way I approach my work.

I work with individuals, couples, and families facing a wide range of concerns, including trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relational conflict, and major life transitions. Much of my work focuses on helping people better understand their patterns, build emotional regulation, and develop a stronger sense of stability and direction. I believe that meaningful change comes from a balance of insight, accountability, and practical skill-building, and I strive to meet each person with dignity while supporting them in that process.

In therapy, I see it as a collaborative process where we step into the work together. I aim to create a space where people feel respected, understood, and supported as they navigate the challenges contributing to their distress. My approach is trauma-informed, integrative, and grounded in evidence-based practices, drawing from cognitive and behavioral therapies, psychodynamic and attachment-based work, and experiential approaches that help connect both mind and body. I also incorporate elements of meaning-making, whether through existential or faith-informed perspectives, depending on what resonates with each person. When helpful, I collaborate with medical providers to ensure care is aligned and comprehensive.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my family, attending church, and staying active. I also share my home with five dogs, who I like to think of as my own team of four-legged therapists. I often encourage clients to approach growth with both courage and self-compassion, stepping into challenges while also learning to be kinder to themselves along the way. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you on your journey toward healing and stability.

Sincerely,

Dr. Hector Soto, LMSW, LCSW, DSW
