Professional Bio
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and graduate of UCLA’s MSW program. Before joining WellQor in 2018, I was a therapist working with veterans in VA nursing homes. I also held a position at the LA County Psychiatric Hospital and had various private clients in the Los Angeles Area.
I was inspired to be a social worker by my son’s godmother. I saw the way in which she was instrumental in helping people live better lives, and I wanted to find a career where I could do the same. My clinical philosophy is to focus on client’s goals by being their advocate and ally, walking down their path to help them be successful. As we work through the therapeutic process, I see my clients progress and learn to have more positive attitudes and outcomes. We all need someone who can be honest with us, but also listen with empathy and without judgement. For my clients, I am that person.
While I serve a broad range of people, my specialty is Gerontology. This is a specific focus of working with older adults. The golden years present many questions, fears, and obstacles that we need to meet head on and with confidence. The dramatic changes we face later in life can be hard to cope with, and I really enjoy helping people navigate these changes through the therapeutic process.
When I’m not with clients I love to dance. In my spare time, and for the last 30 years, I have been studying and performing Central Asian folk dances with my dance partner at festivals around the United States. We present folk dances from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan Balochistan, Kazakhstan, Iran, and Egypt. Prior to this I sang and performed in Avaz International Dance Theater’s Zhena choir which specialized in Eastern European songs from Croatia, Bulgaria and Greece. I am also beholden to my three cats, Cuddles, Milo and Banshee.
I currently have LCSW credentials in California, Nevada, Arizona and Tennessee. Talk to me! When we ask for help, we become warriors in our own self care.
