Professional Bio
Hey! My name is Jeanna and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 25 years of experience providing psychotherapy. I obtained my Master’s degree in counseling in 1997. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with a variety of clients across a broad spectrum of ages, cultures, and situations. I’ve worked with individuals, couples, and families providing brain-based cognitive behavioral therapy to alleviate a number of mental and behavioral health issues. I have extensive experience working with clients struggling with: Depression, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, ADHD, Grief/Complicated Grief, PTSD, childhood trauma, life/relationship stressors, shame-based thinking, autoimmune disorders/chronic pain, behavior issues/positive parenting techniques, co-dependency, stress, and anger management. I’m also trained in trauma informed care and Brainspotting which can be a powerful tool in helping clients overcome issues they haven’t been able to resolve in traditional talk therapy.
I became a therapist in-part due to my own experience growing up in a dysfunctional family, and dealing with unresolved trauma and mental health concerns. Through therapy I was able to face my past trauma and heal, and it’s an honor to help other’s do the same. As your therapist, I‘ll place a strong emphasis on wellness and treating the whole body- mind, body, and soul. I can help you overcome barriers, and gain the tools you need to manage the challenges you’re facing.
Above all, I recognize the difficulty it takes to start the therapy process and I promise to meet you with compassion and understanding. It’s important to me that you feel you are making progress toward your goals each session. In the therapeutic process, there is no such thing as failure, only learning experience. Counseling is about the process of change, and the concept of failure sabotages that process. I’m here to help you be the best version of you, and change the aspects of your life preventing you from reaching your goals.
Therapy is a process. It takes patience and work, but the good news is that you will gain tools that will help you for the rest of your life.
When I’m not with clients, I enjoy the outdoors- paddling, hiking, and gardening with my dog Shasta in my free time, along with hanging out with my 2 cats, and spending time with family and friends.
I’m excited to learn more about you!
