Professional Bio

Hi! I’m Dr. Larisa Hutchins.

I have been a practicing Clinical Psychologist for over 20 years. I’ve worked amongst different agencies, as a school psychologist, in my own private practice, and now, as a clinical therapist for WellQor. I have experience working with all ages from young children to older adults, and I’ve loved it all! I have helped clients through child behavior issues, parenting concerns, autism spectrum disorders, depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorders to name a few.

As a therapist, I enjoy meeting each person and appreciating their unique lives. I love helping clients gain lifelong skills and insights through the process of understanding and self-discovery. I enjoy the unexpected ‘aha’ moments in therapy that add to a person’s experience and perspective. I love being a therapist because this process is truly never boring. I meet with individuals who have seen so many unique life paths and struggles in my time as a therapist, and each new story is rewarding to unpack.

I like to tell my clients that life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.

As your therapist, I promise to work hard with you to help you overcome your struggles and better understand yourself and your life. I will respect you, try to understand your concerns, and support you in achieving your goals. I want to work with you rather than tell you what to do, because you are the expert on your life. We will work as a team to develop goals, and find ways to achieve those goals.

Therapy is just as important as physical medical services. Therapy can help a person to realize how emotional factors might be impacting physical health or vice versa. Therapy is also a chance to discover more about one’s self, and how to achieve goals and dreams or what might make one’s life fulfilling. So please, take care of yourself and come talk to me!

When I’m not with clients, I enjoy reading, creative writing, photography, and many outdoor activities. I also enjoy traveling and meeting people from other cultures to learn more about their customs and beliefs, and hear their stories!
