Kat uses the DBT process to help me work toward emotional wellness. She is incredibly patient — believe me, there have been times when I probably would have irritated a normal person!
What I appreciate most is that Kat is real. She doesn’t sit across from me simply reciting facts or techniques. At appropriate times, she shares experiences that remind me she is human too and understands some of the emotions that can come with difficult circumstances.
And she listens — really listens. Sometimes she will restate something I have said that, in the moment, may sound completely illogical, and somehow put it into a logical form that helps me understand what I am actually feeling and trying to say.
I feel heard, respected, and never rushed. Kat has helped me learn how to stop reacting, calm myself, and then identify what is underneath the reaction and why I am feeling it.

Katherine is probably the most competent and compassionate person I have ever worked with in a therapeutic environment. I really appreciate her understanding of my problems and her willingness to help me in any way she is able. I find her easy to communicate with and she doesn't ever seem to judge me - a problem I have encountered with previous therapists. All-in-all, I can't recommend Katherine enough.
