Professional Bio
Hi! I’m Katherine Murphy (she/her) and I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a passion for helping others evolve and change. I’ve worked as a therapist in multiple mental health settings including community mental health, addictions treatment, behavioral consulting, corrections, and private practice. In these settings, I’ve developed a diverse skillset that includes expertise in mood disorders, crisis intervention, men’s mental health, LGBTQIA communities, and much more.
I approach every client with the belief that they are worthy and capable of personal growth and self-actualization. That starts with creating a therapy environment where my clients feel safe to freely express themselves without judgment. Because when clients feel safe enough to be vulnerable and honest with their therapist, they can be honest with themselves. Then, we can work together to identify a client’s unique gifts, find opportunities for positive change, and forge the tools for finding meaning and purpose in life.
When I am not doing clinical work I enjoy teaching college courses, traveling, spending time with my scattered adult children, attending performing arts events with friends, reading books, practicing eastern spirituality, volunteering in my community, and doing advocacy work. I can’t wait to learn more about you!
